ソウルが正式にソウルと改名

2005年7月29日、韓国政府は首都ソウル(Hanseong)の名称をソウル(Seoul)に正式に変更することを正式に決定した。この決定は、韓国の首都名をさらに国際化し、国際的なイメージを高めるためだ。報道によると、この決定は一連の公衆討論と議論の後に行われたもので、政府は新しい名称が現代化した首都のイメージに合っていると考えている。ソウルへの改名決定も韓国内でいくつかの議論と反対を受けたが、最終的には政府の承認を得て正式に実施された。その時からソウルは韓国の正式な首都名となった。
