イラクのフセイン元大統領、絞首刑に

イラクのフセイン元大統領は2006年11月5日、シーア派イスラム教徒148人を大規模虐殺した罪で死刑判決を受けた。1982年のダハル島事件の背後にいたとされ、数千人のシーア派イスラム教徒が死亡した。フセインの裁判はイラク特別法廷で行われ、裁判場所はバグダッドにある。2006年12月26日、イラク控訴裁判所は死刑判決を確認した。2006年12月30日、イラクのジャララ・タラバニ大統領は処刑命令を承認した。2006年12月30日未明、フセインはバグダッド北部の米軍刑務所で絞首刑に処せられた。処刑過程は録画され、世界に広まった。この事件は国際社会の広範な関心と論争を引き起こした。
